ICONTEC is a Colombian multinational concerned about sustainable development of organizations in the continent that works since 1963 to promote standardization, conformity assessment, metrology and quality management in Colombia, Central America and South America.
As National Standardization Body, we represent Colombia before international and regional standardization bodies such as the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), and the Pan American Standards Commission (Comisión Panamericana de Normas de la Cuenca del Pacífico - COPANT).
We are also an active member of the most important regional and international standardization bodies, which allows the organization to participate in the definition and development of international and regional standards.
ICONTEC is a certification body with global coverage thanks to its link with the International Certification Network, IQNet (global network which include the most important certification bodies).

ICONTEC has an significant international recognition for being accredited by the National Accreditation Board of ANSI - ASQ (ANAB), the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) from the United States, the German Accreditation Association (TGA), the National Standardization Institute (Instituto Nacional de Normalización - INN) from Chile, and the National Institute for Competence Defense and Intellectual Property Protection (Instituto Nacional de Defensa de la Competencia y de la Protección de la Propiedad Intelectual - INDECOPI) from Peru.

Standardization
At ICONTEC, as the National Standardization Body, we coordinate the preparation of technical guides, standards and other normative documents applicable in Colombia. For this purpose, there are approximately 250 standardization committees in which industry, consumers, academy and general interests, as well as other stakeholders, participate, in order to establish the fundamental requirements related to quality, safety, security, health care and environment, for products, services, processes and systems.

In ICONTEC we work jointly with the business sector in Colombia and the other countries where we are present in quality management system certification with which the companies find facilities and opportunities for their trade activities with other countries, this makes of our certifications a passport to competitiveness.
