Conexsus - Instituto Conexões Sustentáveis ​​was born in 2016 in Belém (PA), the result of a debate on the limits of pure philanthropic investment and how to combine it with reimbursable investment to promote the development of sustainable businesses, especially community-based ventures .

Since then, the organization has been forming a network of social entrepreneurs with experiences in several areas, who have sought to understand what mechanisms and tools are necessary so that financial resources can be used, in fact, for the development of community organizations and businesses that act in chains of healthy and sustainable food, sustainable agroforestry, socio-biodiversity and extractivism, sustainable artisanal fisheries and community forestry.

As a result of the diagnosis that there are difficulties in accessing these resources, even for organizations focused on social and environmental development that already work with these community organizations and businesses, Conexsus has identified that there are no organizations that are dedicated to articulate more connections focused on the development of socio-environmental impact. Therefore, it seeks to broker new arrangements that involve the diverse players of this ecosystem - support organizations, market agents, financiers and investors, and academic and research institutions - in search of shared, innovative and networked solutions.

The organization today is formed by a decentralized and dynamic team of social entrepreneurs and regional planners working to improve the sustainable business ecosystem in Brazil, especially in the Amazon. It brings together more than 40 associates, with offices in Belém (PA), Brasília (DF), Rio de Janeiro (RJ), Curitiba (PR) and correspondents in the USA and Europe.
