The National Single Central Institute of Ablation and Implant Coordinator (INCUCAI) is the body that promotes, standardizes, coordinates and supervises the donation and transplantation activities of organs, tissues and cells in Argentina. It acts in the Argentine provinces together with 24 jurisdictional organisms of ablation and implantation in order to provide the population with transparent and equitable access to transplantation.
INCUCAI is a decentralized entity under the Secretariat of Policies, Regulation and Institutes of the Ministry of Health (Argentina). Its actions are aimed at effectively enforcing the Organ Transplant Law, regulations that establish the lines of its operation, to meet the demand of patients waiting for a transplant.
The mission of INCUCAI is to promote, regulate and coordinate activities related to the procurement and transplantation of organs, tissues and cells in Argentina, guaranteeing transparency, equity and quality. The vision aims to build a system inserted in the health structure that is capable of generating responses to the multiple demands of transplants, supported by the confidence and positive attitude of the community towards donation.
In 2014, Argentina remained the leader among the countries in the region in terms of organ transplants per million inhabitants, leading the statistics in heart, pancreatic and intestinal transplants.
