The INTI was created by Decree Law 17.138 of December 27, 1957, within the framework of the emergence of a set of national institutions designed to set in motion, in a planned manner, public investment, science and technology.
Its first laboratories were located in the Miguelete Technology Park in a 19-hectare estate in the General San Martín Party, province of Buenos Aires, which today has thirty centers, as well as administrative and support areas. Today the INTI is present with Regional and Multipurpose Centers throughout the country, which generate research and development in the network, in order to accompany and promote the industrial growth of each province. This expansion has allowed the institute to cover a wide range of industrial specialties, in coordination with universities, state laboratories, public companies, business chambers and other organizations -of the country and abroad- linked to technological activity.
From its origins, the INTI had the particularity of integrating cameras and industries in the management scheme of its centers to ensure that the activities that were developed were connected to the needs and specific demands of the industrial field. At the same time, the linking of companies to centers has been aimed at facilitating the development of innovations that, due to their scope, escape the possibilities of a single company.
With highly specialized professionals and laboratories equipped with instruments and adequate equipment - in some cases, unique in the region - their current capabilities cover almost all areas of the industry.
