They are a non-economic civil society organization with headquarters in Brasilia and an office in Santa Inês (MA). Since 1990, they have worked for development with social equity and environmental balance, through the strengthening of sustainable livelihoods and strategies for adapting and mitigating climate changes.
They believe that one of the means to promote nature conservation and tackle social inequalities is to support traditional peoples and communities and family farmers in the development of sustainable activities in productive landscapes.
For this, they understand that it is necessary to value knowledge, local practices and community organizations, in addition to supporting socio-productive inclusion and protecting the rights of rural populations. In this sense, they seek to democratize access to resources for community projects that dialogue with the global objectives of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development , in addition to articulating and encouraging social participation for impact on public policies relevant to society and the environment.
They also work to strengthen the relationship between researchers and communities, in order to qualify and promote the exchange and generation of knowledge that can contribute to the consolidation of the ecosystem look for global development.
