At the Internet Society Foundation, they focus on funding initiatives that strengthen the Internet in function and reach so that it can effectively serve all people. Their work advances the vision of the Internet Society (ISOC): The Internet is For Everyone.

To this end, they support efforts to ensure that the Internet is open, globally-connected, secure, and trustworthy. They champion the use of the network as a critical technical infrastructure that can bring communities better education, healthcare and economic opportunity among other important areas of focus. They believe that by working together, they can use the Internet to shape a better future for us all and positively impact humanity worldwide.

FOCUS AREAS

Beyond the Net Funding Programme: They help Internet Society Chapters around the world implement local and regional projects that advance the vision of the Internet is for everyone.

Strengthening Communities and Improving Lives & Livelihoods (SCILLS): They expand economic growth and increase educational opportunities by supporting individuals and communities to more knowledgeably and skillfully use the Internet.

Research: They support global research collaborations that advance understanding of the Internet and its value for all. This includes support for integrated approaches to investigating the real or potential impact of the Internet on their society and the environment.

Resiliency and Responding to Emergencies (RARE): They accelerate efforts to help communities enhance preparedness and build Internet resiliency when faced with adverse events such as national disasters. The first component of the RARE program, Emergency Response: COVID-19 was launched in 2020 in response to the pandemic and we launched component two, Resiliency, in 2021.

Building Opportunities & Leveraging Technology (BOLT) (future): The BOLT program supports teams of innovators working to expand the possibility of Internet connectivity and access globally through the development of prototypes and pilots.
