The Implementation Unit of the Millennium Account Program - Honduras (MCA-Honduras) was born in 2005 after Honduras became the recipient of donation funds from the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) of the Government of the United States of America. MCA-Honduras was an example nationally and internationally in the management of time, budget and scope of its projects, executing US $ 205 million with efficiency and transparency in strengthening the country's road infrastructure and assisting and incentives for rural development in the areas with productive potential in the country.
Still implementing MCC grant funds, in 2009, MCA-Honduras earned the trust of international organizations and the Government, Private Enterprise and Civil Society to manage US $ 158 million in co-financing from the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) to continue the expansion to four lanes of the country's main road communication highway, the CA-5 North Highway.
In September 2012, MCA-Honduras once again has the confidence of international organizations when being appointed administrator of the Infrastructure Portfolio of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), which includes the improvement and expansion of the Diversion segment to Villa de San Antonio - End of the Comayagua Valley and La Barca - Villanueva on the CA-5 Norte; the completion of the Logistics Corridor in San Pedro Sula; and, the paving of the Agricultural Corridor, Gualaco - Puerto Castilla.
