The IOOF group not only looks after the financial wellbeing of thousands of Australians but cares in other ways too, by supporting those Australians who are disadvantaged by health or circumstance.
In recognition of the long history of the IOOF group and the important role it has played in supporting the community since 1846, the IOOF Foundation was established as a not-for-profit in June 2002 as part of the demutualisation of IOOF Limited.
The IOOF Foundation provides grants that support Australian not-for-profit organisations working with disadvantaged families, disadvantaged children and youth and aged care. The IOOF Foundation is making a difference to those in need.
As at 30 June 2017, the IOOF Foundation had gifted over $12.5m to over 200 charities nation-wide.
IOOF's history is steeped in helping people regardless of race, religion or gender. Formed as a friendly society in 1846, it was a convenient structure for people who shared a common goal to combine their resources and pursue that objective.
For the founders of IOOF, that objective was to raise funds, via member contributions, to help those experiencing long-term illness. It's fitting, therefore, that the traditions of 160 years ago continue today, through the work of the IOOF Foundation.
Established in June 2002 as part of the demutualisation of IOOF, the Foundation received an initial grant of almost two million shares in IOOF Holdings Ltd (IOOF). Today, the Foundation's investment comprises of shares in IOOF and funds under management. IOOF continues its support of the Foundation through the provision of administrative services such as a full time staff member, office premises, marketing support and the implementation of a staff giving program.
