MISSION, VISION AND PRINCIPLES

Approved by the Municipal Council meeting held on 14 July 2006, the Institutional Strategic Plan of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) is the product of a one-year study period with contributors from both within and outside the institution. The vision, mission, and principles of the IMM were established in workshops attended by all the directors and executive officers working in the Municipality. In addition, the valuable opinions and suggestions of the people of Istanbul were also put to use in designing the IMM’s vision.

MISSION

The Municipality’s mission is to offer local services to all residents of Istanbul in conformity with the local governance standards of the 21st century, bringing municipal services to perfection within a corporate understanding, and keeping the city’s cultural identity alive.

VISION

The Municipality’s vision is to make Istanbul a sustainable and innovative world city by ensuring a high quality of life for its citizens, and making a claim to the unique legacy of the city of Istanbul — Turkey’s window to the world.
