DAKSH: An Intelligent Labor Monitoring Tool
More than 80% deliveries occur with the assistance of staff nurses in LMICs (Low Middle Income Countries). WHO partograph is designed to monitor & make timely interventions to prevent complications during the labor period. More than 90% of the staff nurses fill the partograph after delivery, that too for the data recording formality.
There are number of problems related to partograph. It is complicated to use without proper training and additional record keeping. Looking at the partograph, the midwives do not know when to take data and it also does not trigger a call to action in case of any anomaly.
DAKSH is a Mobile tablet based intelligent labor monitoring tool which not only allows the staff nurse to register and enter vital signs of a pregnant woman but also reminds to monitor the labor vitals, as per the standard intra partum protocol.
It also generates alerts in case of complications, based on an in-built algorithm. The doctor at a remote location can also view the live labor progress and guide the staff nurse.

KEYAR: FHR & Uterine Contraction Monitoring Device
PROBLEM
Every year, an estimated 1.02 million intrapartum stillbirths and 904000 intrapartum-related neonatal deaths occur globally. In India, more than 80% deliveries conducted by staff nurses.
Existing device CTG for continuous monitoring of FHR & uterine contraction displays both the parameters in a graphical format and required a gynaecologists to analyzes the pattern to diagnose the mother & fetus well being. Based on that, they take early decision to prevent any mortality or morbidity.
Existing device cardiotocography is high cost, non-portable, required a skilled health worker to operate the device and to interpret from graphs.
SOLUTION
Their solution KEYAR is an affordable, easy to use and portable labor monitoring device for continuous monitoring of fetal heart rate and uterine contraction during intra-partum period for low resources healthcare settings.
The device monitors both the parameters, analyzes the pattern and further gives color coded/sound alert if fetus is in distress. The device also displays fetal heart rate and uterine contraction in an easy format which is interpretable by a low skilled health worker.
