INSTALLATION

For optimum performance and efficiency, trust your installation to the professionals at JAVS.  Our turn key installation is highly cost-effective and ensures the easiest possible transition for your audio video system.  JAVS installation includes:

Scheduling → Design → Installation → Cleanup → Testing → Training → Service

JAVS factory-trained installers customize your system, locating components where they will best meet your unique needs.  Installers work with you to determine control locations, system modes, microphone and camera placement, and software configuration.  Your equipment is attractively discreet.  All wires are dressed and hidden where possible.  Upon completion, a local JAVS service Technician will train the staff and provide ongoing support.

Scheduling and Design

The JAVS Installation Coordinator will contact the State Contract Manager to work out the details of the installation schedule. The Job Foreman will work closely with you to customize each system design to fit your needs, including equipment placement, judge’s preferences and more. A two-person crew of factory-trained personnel will work so the job is completed efficiently with minimum disruption to the court. Crews will need authorized access to the courtroom to complete the job on time.

Installation

JAVS installs equipment so it is inconspicuous. Wherever possible, installers will hide wires in the wall, ceiling, floor and bench. This commonly requires drilling through concrete, cutting through walls, and drilling through the bench. If a hole is required, great care is taken to make sure it is unnoticeable. Grommets and wall plates are used to properly finish any openings. All wires that cannot be run through the wall or floor are carefully wire-tied, dressed and mounted attractively.

Speakers are mounted in the ceiling or on the walls to provide the best possible coverage for your courtroom. Cameras are permanently and unobtrusively mounted on the walls just above the height of an average person’s head, providing the best camera angle. Microphones are permanently mounted at the judge, witness and attorney positions. Contoured Plexiglas is used to keep papers, books and other materials from interfering with the integrity of the sound recording.

If a monitor will be installed for evidence presentation or instant review, it is typically mounted to the wall or ceiling. The Job Foreman will make sure the monitor is installed at the best viewing angle possible.

Cleanup

Installation is not complete until the room has been properly cleaned. All trash and tools are removed, and ceiling tiles are replaced. All flat surfaces are cleaned, including law tables, judge’s bench, clerk’s desk, witness box, jury rail and walls where the cameras have been mounted. The room is vacuumed thoroughly, so it is cleaner than when the crew arrived.

Testing

The Job Foreman will perform a walkthrough, testing all equipment. The Job Foreman will inform you of all camera, microphone and speaker locations, and point out all modifications made to the bench, floor and walls. Details of the work performed will be submitted in writing.

When work has been completed to your satisfaction, the Job Foreman will perform a system orientation for courtroom staff.

Training and Service

When installation is complete, the JAVS Service Technician for your area assumes responsibility for your system. The Service Technician is responsible for training, preventative maintenance and emergency maintenance. This technician will establish a personal relationship with courtroom personnel and will be your connection with JAVS for the lifetime of the system.
