The Jeunesses Musicales Germany (JMD) is the German section of Jeunesses Musicales International (JMI) . It was founded during the Second World War in Brussels with the aim of a peaceful international encounter of young musicians and international understanding. The Jeunesses Musicales International is considered the largest cultural youth cultural organization in the world and is active in over 50 countries around the world. As the "World Meeting Center" of the JMI, Weikersheim is a meeting place for young musicians from all over the world.
Community of young orchestras
In the JMD around 300 young orchestras have formed a professional association, from the Music School Orchestra to the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie. Tendency: growing. The initiatives and projects of the JMD provide impulses and motivation for orchestra work : young people experience community and learn to take on responsibility for shared success in a team. With wit and fresh charm, the JMD member orchestras enrich the musical life in their cities and communities.
Impulses in cultural life
The JMD organizes courses, performs model projects, sponsors various competitions and prizes, appears with concerts and events, and participates actively in the cultural-political discourse. It gives young musicians a voice, for example as an active member of the German Music Council . Official newsletter and partner of the JMD is the new music newspaper.
Platform of young musicians
The JMD runs the Music Academy Schloss Weikersheim with a wide range of courses from Children's Cello Camp to audition training. Youth orchestras and ensembles find ideal conditions for rehearsals and music free time at the Music Academy. Also in association, the JMD offers young musicians opportunities to participate, for example in the initiative "mu: v - music connects". With mu: v, the JMD is on the move, changing in the direction of a community of young musicians and offering them a nationwide platform to formulate and assert their interests.
Living network for music
The JMD is active through its members (youth orchestras, personal members, honorary members), on a voluntary basis by the Bureau of the Federal Association and in its national associations as well as by the staff in the General Secretariat in Weikersheim. Renowned musicians, university lecturers and representatives of the cultural industry feel connected to the goals of the JMD and are committed to the interests of young musicians.
