CCP was established in 1988 in recognition of the pivotal role communication plays in the way people think and behave about health and development issues. Since that time, CCP’s powerful programming, teaching and research has literally touched billions of people. Today, CCP has over 60 projects that reach people in more than 30 countries and yearly expenditures of over $100 million.
Their major donors include the United States Agency for International Development, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, UNICEF, DFID, and more. Our core strengths include:
- Social and behavior change communication: to influence social norms and individual health behaviors
- Knowledge management: to put correct, concise and timely information into the hands of health providers
- Capacity strengthening: of communication professionals at all levels, in all types of organizations
- Research and evaluation: to build the evidence base for our work and our field
CCP is based within the Department of Health, Behavior and Society at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
