Market position

JP/Politikens Forlag is one of Denmark's largest, most award-winning publishing companies - with a focus on fiction, non-fiction books, memoirs and biographies as well as journalistic books.

The publication program counts approximately 150 annual novelties at the publishers in Denmark and is distinctly commercial with a strong focus on quality and bestsellers.

The publishing house was founded in 1946 and primarily published trade and handbooks until the year 2000, when great growth was successfully achieved by revitalizing established publishing areas. And from 2006, the focus was on a large fiction programme, which has only gotten bigger up until today. In 2017, the publishing business was expanded with the establishment of Bokförlaget Polaris in Sweden and the purchase of the Danish publishers Hr. Ferdinand and C&K. In 2020, JP/Politikens Forlag bought Arnold Busck Købmagergade. In 2021, JP/Politikens Forlag took over the Swedish trade book publisher Roos og Tegnér and bought 70 percent of the Norwegian Kagge Forlag, thus becoming a Scandinavian publishing group. Also in 2021, North Audio Publishing was established, which primarily focuses on the growing audiobook market.
