It was established by the Government of the Republic of Serbia by the Decision on the Establishment of the Public Company for Transport, Storage, Distribution and Trade of Natural Gas "SRBIJAGAS". The predominant activity of the company is Trade in gaseous fuels through the gas network. PE "SRBIJAGAS", Novi Sad strives to be a competitive company and market efficient in all activities, and to develop a modern organized, profitable and long-term successful company that permanently cares about its customers, employees and the environment in which it operates. Efficient and quality implementation of the Energy Balance and the Energy Development Strategy of the Republic of Serbia are the main parts of the company's business policy.

The leader on the Serbian gas market today is a modern gas company whose strength consists of tradition and decades of experience, significant human and material resources, knowledge and commitment to improve, develop and connect Serbia's gas infrastructure with neighboring countries.

PE "Srbijagas", with its headquarters in Novi Sad, was established on October 1, 2005 by the decision of the Government of the Republic of Serbia. Today's Srbijagas was created in the process of restructuring NIS, from the organizational parts of NIS-Gas, NIS-Energogas and NIS-Jugopetrol (Plinara and RJ Gas, Pancevo), which have been developing the gas sector for more than fifty years.

Considering that PE "Srbijagas" performs activities of public importance and general interest of the state, the basic obligations are:

- Secure supply of natural gas to the market

- Development and safe operation of the transport, distribution and storage system

- Development of opportunities for establishing new routes and sources of supply through connection with transport systems with neighboring countries

- Development of the principles of rational and energy efficient use of natural gas with respect for environmental protection and the principles of sustainable development
