The King Hussein Foundation (KHF) was established by Royal Decree in 1999 to serve as an enduring commitment to His Majesty King Hussein's humanitarian vision and legacy.
Its mission is to build upon King Hussein's lifelong commitment to peace, sustainable community development and cross-cultural understanding through national and regional programs that promote education and leadership, economic empowerment and participatory decision-making.
The Foundation's focus on the Arab and Muslim world reflects its commitment to addressing a human development crisis of significant importance: one in five Arabs lives on less than $2 a day; 58 million Arab adults are illiterate - almost two-thirds of them women, and 6.5 million children have no schooling at all.
The influence of KHF and its institutions reaches beyond Jordan. Starting with grassroots communities in the Kingdom, and exporting our most successful models throughout the region, we have built a reputation for creating effective and sustainable programs and institutions.
