About

The mission of the KTI is to create a continuously developing, safe and competitive transport environment in Hungary in the interest of sustainable development, in accordance with the EU transport policy guidelines, all for the sake of a living environment.

The scope of the KTI will cover the whole transport sector, ie the development of passenger transport, freight transport and infrastructure development; and for rail, road, waterborne and aviation modes through horizontal elements such as road safety, environmental protection, transport energy use and the use of intelligent technologies.

TRADITION AND PARTNERSHIP

The KTI Institute of Transport Sciences is a non-profit limited liability company of outstanding public benefit. Together with its predecessors, it has a history of 80 years. Founded in 1938, the state-owned KTI is a research base at the Ministry of Innovation and Technology. In addition to public sector management, its partners come from the public and private sectors. With its total research activities, KTI occupies an outstanding position among the transport research institutes of both Hungary and Europe. Its highly qualified professionals are highly recognized at home and internationally, as reflected in the successful projects of recent years and the extensive partnerships of the Institute.

KTI has extensive international contacts. He is a member of many international research organizations. He is an active member of the most recognized international organizations in the field of transport research, road safety, public transport and transport training (FEHLR, FERSI, ECTRI, AIPCR, CARE, IRTAD, UITP, EUROTRA) and liaises with many European research institutes.

On behalf of the Ministry of Transport, the “EU-UNECE Road-Vehicle Technical Coordination Center” is responsible for representing Hungary in international forums for the development of European vehicle technical regulations, coordinating the work of Hungarian experts participating in international professional forums and , regulations, directives in domestic law.

KTI is a permanent member of the NB-Rail Strategic Working Group through rail certification. It works closely with RINA Service (Italian), Arsenal RACE (Austrian) and SCHIG (Austrian) foreign certification bodies.
