They are sharing technical know-how with some of them who are masters of their own fields. KUKU Agri cc is currently MANUFACTURING agricultural machines, Mahangu Crusher (Oshini), Trailer Mounted Mahangu Threshers, Marula Juice & Oil Press, Brick making machine etc. at Oshakati workshop and also importing a variety of agricultural machineries and equipments including the renowned INDOFARM TRACTORS. KUKU has introduced new name for Tractor and other implements as “NAM FARM” as these are assembled in Namibia. KUKU enjoys technical cooperation with the manufacturers of INDO FARM TRACTORS in India.

They are a demand driven company which has identified a market niche in Namibia and neighbouring countries such Angola, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Their establishment in Namibia started with the operation of importing and trading with Indian made Technology, Equipment and Machines (tractors, agriculture equipment and machines such as Hammer Mills, Grading Bricks making machines, welding machines, lather/turning and boring machines, diesel engine water pumps generates, boreholes drilling equipment & trailers machines).

The concentration of importing and trading was an initial stage to test the market demand and positioning their business through its branding name based on quality and reliable after sales services to their customers at all times. In about eight months, they have managed to sell about 15 Tractors to enable individual entrepreneurs to set up their own business service either to cultivate Mahangu fields or as means of transport. Similarly, they have managed to supply a good number of Hammer Mills to the local market and Angola. Equally, some individual householders managed to secure themselves powerful generator that can provide electricity to the whole village.

Since their arrival here, they found that the business environment in Namibia is very good; however, they have also observed that what is critical to Namibia as strategy for industrialization is to encourage the setting up of manufacturing and value addition which is being advanced by the Government. Indeed, the initiative of industrialization demand the existence of know-how knowledge, technical and production skills as well as integrated support to SMEs to access finance, to acquire technology and equipment that are needed in manufacturing establishments. Also, of paramount important to the setting up and operations of manufacturing enterprises in the country like Namibia their success is subjected to their competitive advantage in terms of product quality, prices and market access.

The Kuku Agri Equipment business through observation has learnt that the Subsistence Mahangu producers up north are moving away from the tradition of pounding to Mahangu flowers which is labour intensive to capital intensive to give remedy and relief to the school going children (girls) to find ample time to concentrate to school work assignments etc. This new orientation has created demand for more Commercial Mahangu Milling Production Units and Emerging Small - Scale Mahangu Service Units.

This Mahangu Milling sector has created the demand of Mahangu Hammer Mills which currently depends on imports from Zimbabwe, India and South Africa. The sector has grown tremendously in terms of employment creation and value addition to local raw materials (Mahangu grains and maize meals). Equally, government recently has directed that due nutritional aspects of Mahangu related products they become part of government institution’s Menu especially Schools, Prisons, Hospitals and Hospitality like Lodges and Hotels. This dimension alone is calling for more production and KUKU is meeting the compelling demand for Hammer Mills by manufacturing it locally with complete backup support.
