Kyrgyz National University named after J. Balasagyn is a leading university in the higher education system of the Kyrgyz Republic, an autonomous educational scientific structure.
1576 full-time teachers are involved in the educational process of the university, of which 541 are candidates of sciences and 117 are doctors of sciences.
The number of students at KNU is 23,333, 2,162 are students of the budget department, 21,171 are students of the extra-budgetary department, 2,723 are students of the secondary vocational education program and 191 are students of the general secondary education program.

The management system of the university is adapted to modern management models of higher education institutions. It combines the positive experience of the past with innovations from the management experience of foreign (European) universities.
The principle of functionality is the basis of the management structure. The main criterion that determines the management structure of KNU and its structural units is their compliance with the content and objectives of the implemented educational programs. Each structural unit of the University and each employee clearly knows their duties and responsibilities set out in the relevant charter and business documents.
KNU participates in the modernization of the education system in the universities of the Kyrgyz Republic, the improvement of educational and methodological support of the educational process. Develops state educational standards in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic. In addition, KNU specialists are actively involved in the creation of high quality textbooks and manuals.
