The Algerian Space Agency (ASAL) is a national public establishment of a specific nature, endowed with legal personality and financial autonomy. It was created with the head of government by presidential decree n ° 02-48 of January 16, 2002.
Asal is the instrument for designing and implementing the national policy for the promotion and development of space activity.
Its main objective is to make the space tool a powerful vector for the country's economic, social and cultural development and to ensure the safety and well-being of the national community.
It has a board of directors made up of representatives of 15 ministerial departments; a scientific committee made up of experts in the fields of space technologies and applications;
Missions and attributions :
1- Propose to the government the elements of a national strategy in the field of space activity and ensure its execution;
2- Set up a space infrastructure intended to strengthen national capacities;
3- Implement annual and multiannual development programs for national space activities in relation to the various sectors concerned and ensure their monitoring and evaluation;
4- Propose to the Government the space systems best suited to national concerns and ensure, on behalf of the State, their design, implementation and operation;
5- Propose to the government a bilateral and multilateral cooperation policy adapted to national needs;
