LBH Masyarakat is a collective of individuals who believe that every human has the potential to actively participate in legal aid, to uphold justice, and to contribute to the protection of human rights. LBH Masyarakat believes in equality, non-discrimination, and acknowledgment of inherent human dignity. LBH Masyarakat defends the right of every human being without distinction on any background: ethnicity, religion, race, social status, sexual orientation, gender identity, mental health situation, or another status.
Their Legal Aid
LBH Masyarakat (Community Legal Aid Institute) found that many individuals and groups are forgotten, marginalised, and even exiled just because they are perceived as different by the general public. Most people hide behind moral reasons to legitimate their discriminative actions. Ironically, the state, which has a duty to protect its citizen, tends to tolerate and preserve this discriminative situation. This could be seen by its law, policy, and public official statements which often neglect the value of human rights.
