About

Who are we?

FONAREDD is a tool for mobilizing financing, intersectoral coordination and monitoring of financing linked to the reduction of emissions due to deforestation and forest degradation (REDD+), as well as the mitigation of the effects of climate change. Follow our institutional video here

The National REDD+ Fund (FONAREDD) constitutes the financial instrument for the implementation of the National REDD+ Strategy (Reduction of Emissions due to Deforestation and Forest Degradation) in the DRC, through its Investment Plans.

Its operationalization was included as a priority measure in the Economic Governance Matrix, in its section relating to the strengthening of forest governance and the preparation of the DRC for REDD+ financing.

It is for this reason that its anchoring is established within the Technical Committee for Monitoring and Evaluation of Reforms (CTR) at the Ministry of Finance, which carries the agenda for these reforms. On the institutional level, the Minister of Finance and his Environment Colleague respectively serve as Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the Steering Committee (COPIL) .
