History

In 1926, Georges-Gaston Gaspard opened a bookstore in Valenciennes (Northern France). The small bookstore continues to grow from being a retail business to printing and producing its own paper assortment.

In 1936, Georges-Gaston Gaspard starts near Valenciennes the construction of a department store which will become the main center of activities of the delivery service. Georges-Gaston notes that direct delivery of products to customers is more convenient for customers but also for the company. A few years after the foundation, warehouse activity is expanding in relation to the retail sector.

The Second World War leaves strong traces on the installations and an air attack destroys them. Georges-Gaston Gaspard rethinks the company's strategy and decides, with his son Étienne, to put an end to the retail business and to focus entirely on B2B services.

In 1956, Etienne Gaspard took the management of the company. The first catalog appeared in 1959.

In 1969, Georges Gaspard, the current president of the company and son of Étienne, joined the company as a collaborator in the foreign service. After having held several positions within the company, he was promoted to 1979 sales manager.

Between the 80s and the 2005, Lyreco spreads in Europe and in the Asia-Pacific space.
