Maccabi Health Services (formerly: Maccabi Health Fund) is one of the four health funds operating in Israel. It was founded in September 1940 and began its practical work in August 1941.
Today, Maccabi Health Services has over two million members and is considered one of the most powerful institutions influencing the health system in Israel. Maccabi provides its members with the best medical service, is committed to complete health, health promotion and preventive medicine while maintaining the basic values of the founding fathers: free choice, medical quality, economic balance and efficiency.
In recent years, they have witnessed changes at an increasing pace in the world of health - changes in the perception of health, the scope of new technologies, regulation and more. 75 years of excellence and quality of service
When it was established, the Maccabi Health Fund numbered ten doctors and several dozen members. The founding fathers of the fund include: Dr. Felix Tilehber, Dr. Ernest Freudenthal, Peretz Bernstein, Uri Nadav, Dr. Avigdor Koren, George Flesh, Dr. Eliyahu Sedger, Hanania Berger, Dr. Moshe Hernick, Dr. Eliezer Ludwig Lerfreund, Dr. Robert Atlas, Felix Sheiniak, Arthur Rosenberg, Fritz Levinson, Dr. Herman Leleber. Most of them were doctors and some were managers and financier.
