MAMPU Program
About

MAMPU is an Australian Government (DFAT) and Government of Indonesia (BAPPENAS) partnership working to improving the access of poor women to essential services and other government programs in order to achieve gender equality and women’s empowerment and support the achievement of Government of Indonesia Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) targets.

For MAMPU, women’s empowerment is both the goal in itself and the means to achieving the goal.

MAMPU reaches out to marginalized women by working with civil society organizations − their MAMPU Partners − to empower women and influence government policies at the local and national levels. MAMPU strengthens Partners’ capacity, expands their networks and connects them with strategic stakeholders and policymakers.

MAMPU Partners advocate changes, which directly support Indonesia’s commitment to the SDGs, by developing promising ‘models’ and approaches in five thematic areas:

  • Improving access to government social protection programs
  • Improving conditions of employment and removing workplace discrimination
  • Improving conditions of women’s overseas migration
  • Improving women’s health and nutrition
  • Reducing violence against women
