WHAT WE DO
Rule of Law
MSD works with key counterparts and civil society to develop and implement programs that strengthen judicial institutions and improve the delivery of justice sector services at the local, regional, and national levels. Our programmatic expertise includes administration of justice, access to justice, human rights, and security reform.
MSD collaborates with governments, civil society, and the international community to prevent violations of human rights and International Humanitarian Law, protect victims in imminent danger, and provide reparations to individuals whose rights have been violated.
MSD implemented the largest USAID-funded country human rights program in Colombia, and worked to develop strengthen legal frameworks to protect human rights and strengthen institutional response to communities at risk.
Civil Society Strengthening
MSD works to build civil society’s capacity to monitor, advocate for, and grow local support for judicial reforms and human rights. Through organizational capacity building, MSD works to improve the management and administration of community-based organizations to ensure responsibility and accountability. MSD strengthens civil society through promoting and educating civil society groups on principles of rule of law, use of legal mechanisms, and strategies to influence public policy; and supports the development of training modules, including webinars and video “shorts” to explain the nature and impact of local and national judicial and human rights reforms.
Project Management
MSD brings more than twenty years USAID project management experience, and expertise in contract compliance, financial controls, procurements and grants management, consultant deployment, performance monitoring, and program reporting. MSD partners with small businesses to assist in the development of proposals and strengthen program administration capacity.
