Manchester Rape Crisis (MRC) is a confidential support service, run by women for women and girls, who have been raped or sexually abused.
MRC was set up in 1976 by local women as a grass roots response to the lack of appropriate services for women who had been raped or sexually abused. Today MRC continues to support women who have been raped or sexually abused, including women who have been or are involved in sex work.
MRC also offers informal support and advocacy to women; for example, they are involved in supporting asylum seeking women, who have experienced rape and torture in their home countries.
MRC is a vital charity, which aims to support, believe and listen to women who have been raped or sexually abused.
