Marshall Legacy Institute (MLI)

About

The Marshall Legacy Institute (MLI) is a Virginia-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 1997 to advance the legacy of the Marshall Plan by supporting post-conflict recovery and stability in war-affected communities. MLI addresses the humanitarian, environmental, and economic impacts of landmines and explosive remnants of war through integrated Mine Action and Social Impact programs. Its Mine Action work accelerates clearance operations through Mine and Explosive Detection Dogs, delivers mine risk education, builds national mine-action capacity, and supports survivors’ physical and psychosocial recovery. Complementing this, MLI’s Social Impact programs focus on youth leadership, inter-ethnic reconciliation, and women’s empowerment, strengthening community resilience, restoring livelihoods, and helping conflict-affected societies rebuild toward lasting peace.
