Founded in 1955, Sears W. Merrick and co-founder, Ed Lecuyer, created a civil engineering and surveying company (Colorado) with a focus on providing high quality, responsive service. They recruited committed employees by offering opportunities for company ownership and growth.
Incorporated in 1959, the employee-owned company has since become a professional services leader and continues to remain a reflection of the founders’ vision and entrepreneurial spirit.
In the beginning, Merrick focused on electrical transmission and distribution projects throughout the Rocky Mountain region. The firm steadily expanded its range to embrace all of the traditional engineering disciplines and architecture.
The range of technical services was further expanded in the late 1980s to include geographical information services (GIS), process engineering, and material handling equipment design and fabrication.
Since 1991, Merrick has been consistently ranked by Engineering News Record Magazine (ENR) as one of the Top 200 Design Firms in the United States and by that same publication as one of the top architecture firms.
