Mexican Agency of International Cooperation for Development (AMEXCID)
Mexican Agency of International Cooperation for Development (AMEXCID)
About

Through AMEXCID, Mexico offers and receives cooperation for development. On the one hand, they share successful experiences, strengthen capacities and exchange human, technical and financial resources with developing countries, particularly in Central America and the Caribbean. On the other hand, they work with strategic partners to strengthen the capabilities, improve the institutions and generate tangible results that strengthen Mexico.

Areas of action
Policy of International Cooperation for Development
Mexico, as an actor with global responsibility, promotes a responsible international agenda in matters of International Cooperation for Development. To this end, AMEXCID establishes processes of inter-institutional coordination and with non-governmental actors, and generates tools and instruments for the planning, monitoring and evaluation of a result-oriented cooperation, transparent and consistent with the principles of effectiveness.

Likewise, AMEXCID participates in several international processes, organizations and forums, in which the development problems and the challenges that development cooperation faces are analyzed, as well as defining common objectives and principles.

Our participation in the Global Partnership for Effective Development Cooperation, the definition of Post-2015 Agenda and Development Financing, the Development Assistance Committee of the OECD and the Working Group for the Development of the G20 stand out.

Technical and Scientific Cooperation
As a provider of cooperation, they have focused the efforts on technical and scientific cooperation in priority sectors (health, environment, education, infrastructure, science and technology), sharing experiences, good practices and knowledge of Mexican institutions, acquired by converting Development challenges in opportunities. As a receiver, they coordinate the negotiation processes with cooperating partners to consolidate collaborative programs that contribute to the priorities and needs of the country.

Cooperation with Mesoamerica and the Caribbean
They look for the cooperation efforts as suppliers to be of high impact and long term. The region of Mesoamerica and the Caribbean has been established as a priority to promote integration and achieve shared development. They direct the actions through bilateral programs of a biennial nature and regional mechanisms, among which are:

1. The Mesoamerica Integration and Development Project (PM), a high-level political dialogue mechanism that includes technical forums to build consensus and articulate cooperation, development and integration efforts that translate into peace and prosperity for the region.
2. The Infrastructure Fund Trust for Mesoamerican and Caribbean Countries (Fondo de Yucatán), a financial instrument to support the execution of infrastructure projects that contribute to the connectivity and economic development of the region.
