Middle East Scientific Institute for Security

MESIS is an independent Jordanian non-governmental organization based in Amman, Jordan associated with the Royal Scientific Society. MESIS was established in 2002 under its previous name, the Cooperative Monitoring Center, Amman. MESIS is also host of the Middle East Regional Secretariat of the European Union’s “Centres of Excellence” initiative on CBRN issues, the first to become operational worldwide. Vision: To create a space for the scientific community in the region to come together to discuss chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) risks whether deliberate, natural or accidental and receive training where possible. Mission: To be the experts and driving force for regional cooperation in CBRN Risk mitigation by offering training and promoting awareness on critical issues and technical applications to support long-term viability.
