The rich and strong bilateral cooperation between the Governments of Senegal and the United States has made it possible to develop and implement a program aimed at reducing poverty through economic growth. This program materialized by a first Compact of 540 million dollars signed between Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) and the Government of Senegal in September 2009 and implemented over a period of five (5) years, between 2010 and 2015 to through a partnership called Millennium Challenge Account (MCA) Senegal.
Following a successful implementation of its first Compact and having achieved significant improvements on the main governance indicators of the MCC scorecard , especially on the issues of democracy promotion and the fight against corruption, Senegal has been declared eligible to develop a second Compact by the Board of Directors of the MCC, meeting in December 2015.
As such, the government of Senegal has set up the Formulation and Coordination Unit of the Second MCA-Senegal Program (UFC MCA-Senegal). The unit is responsible for formulating the proposal that Senegal is called upon to submit for MCC funding.
