On July 10, 2018, faced with the growing needs of the population in terms of drinking water supply and the threats of climate change, the President of the Republic created the Ministry of Hydraulics.

This creation gave a new dynamism to the institutional and regulatory framework of the drinking water sector.

MISSIONS OF THE MINISTRY OF HYDRAULICS

The Ministry of Hydraulics is responsible for the implementation and monitoring of the Government's policy in the field of hydraulics.

As such, and in conjunction with the various ministerial departments concerned, it has the initiative and responsibility for the following actions:

• Participation in the monitoring and protection of water resources;
• Management of drinking water sector infrastructure;
• Development of drinking water supply infrastructure in urban and rural areas;
• Development and monitoring of regulations in terms of studies, construction and operation of human hydraulic structures.
