About

The Ministry of Infrastructures and Transport is the executive structure of the Italian State responsible for:

  • planning, financing, implementation and management of infrastructural networks of national interest and public works within the jurisdiction of the State
  • urban and housing policies also concerning the system of cities and metropolitan areas
  • activities related to transport, traffic and logistics in the area and including navigation, security and maritime transport and inland waterways; civil aviation and air transport; and circulation, security and land transport

The Ministry, in carrying out its duties, is responsible for:

  • collaborate with Il Corpo delle Capitanerie di Porto - Coast Guard and with the Superior Council of Public Works
  • interact and coordinate with regional and local institutions, also providing guidelines
  • take care of international relations and agreements regarding the infrastructure and transport sectors
  • exercise guidance, monitoring and control functions for supervised and participated entities and transport managers
