In accordance with the provisions of the 2012-1997 of September 11, 2012, fixing the attributions of the Ministry of Communication Technologies and Digital Economy:
The Ministry of Communication Technologies and Digital Economy, proposes the general policy in the field of information and communication technologies and ensures its implementation in order to consolidate the role of the sector in the economic development and social.
In this context, he is responsible for:
- Establish the national strategy for the sector and monitor its implementation,
- Establish programs and procedures for the development and consolidation of the information and communication technology sector.
The Ministry of Communication Technologies and Digital Economy, develops the national strategy of the sector and ensures the follow-up of its implementation, by:
- Prospecting developments in the field of information and communication technologies and the preparation of appropriate plans for the purpose of ensuring the technological watch, the accompaniment of the changes and the exploitation of the opportunities which they offer, and this , by the different parties involved,
- Deciding the major choices and directions of steps likely to allow the realization of state policy in this area and monitoring on the basis of the indicators, criteria and characteristics adopted for this purpose,
- Working to ensure the security of systems, networks, data and cyberspace,
- Identifying the programs and projects to be carried out as part of the economic and social development plans and proposing the associated provisions,
- Ensuring the continuity of services related to information and communication technologies and ensuring their quality.
The Ministry of Communication Technologies and Digital Economy, works to establish programs and procedures for the development and consolidation of the sector, by:
- The development of the appropriate environment to encourage investment in the field and the development of skills and expertise and the encouragement of the use of information and communication technologies,
- The establishment of the framework regulating the sector by working to its coherence with the economic and technological developments and by ensuring its application,
- The development of the info-structure and telecommunications infrastructure, in coordination with the parties concerned, ensuring the quality of these infrastructures,
- Consolidating the adoption of digital technologies for their use, and trust in virtual transactions,
- Managing and optimizing the natural resources of the information and communication technology sector, ensuring their proper distribution and exploitation.
The Ministry of Communication Technologies and Digital Economy, is responsible for developing international cooperation programs and supporting relations with international and regional bodies interested in issues falling within the remit of the Ministry.
The Ministry of Communication Technologies and Digital Economy, oversees the bodies, companies and public institutions that fall under the laws and regulations in force.
