According to Decree No. 2017-45 of January 25, 2017 on the powers of the Members of Government, as amended by Decree No. 2017-596 of September 27, 2017, the Minister of Culture and La Francophonie's main mission is to implementation and monitoring of the Government's policy on culture and the Francophonie.
As such, and in conjunction with the various ministerial departments concerned, he has the initiative and responsibility for the following actions:
IN TERMS OF CULTURE
- promotion of literary and artistic creation, popular arts and traditions;
- training in the fields of arts and cultural activities;
- animation, coordination and dissemination of cultural activities;
- development of cultural infrastructure;
- preservation and enhancement of the national cultural heritage;
- protection of works of the mind;
- protection of book publishing and distribution;
- promotion of international cultural exchanges;
- promotion of film production;
- promotion of a national cultural industry;
- promotion of an economy of culture;
- promotion of national languages;
- promotion of traditional conventions and practices of social regulation;
- promotion of national artists abroad;
- strengthening national unity through the organization of cultural activities;
IN MATTERS OF FRANCOPHONIE
- representation of Côte d'Ivoire in the bodies of La Francophonie;
- follow-up of the legal and institutional evolution of the Francophonie;
- organization of Côte d'Ivoire's participation in the various summits of La Francophonie;
- strengthening of cultural relations with French-speaking embassies and organizations in Côte d'Ivoire;
- control of the implementation of the decisions of the Francophonie summits;
- promotion and popularization of the Francophonie among the populations;
- contribution to the monitoring and evaluation of Francophone cultural cooperation operations in Côte d'Ivoire;
The importance given to culture has led Côte d'Ivoire to gradually put in place animation structures and an administration likely to revitalize this sector.
