The Ministry of Economy is one of the state secretariats that make up the so-called legal cabinet of the President of Mexico . It is the office of the federal executive power in charge of the administration, regulation and promotion of industry , commerce and the provision of services .

It is in charge of designing, planning, executing and coordinating public policies on economic development . This includes establishing, monitoring and regulating the prices of private sector products and services; inspect compliance with laws and regulations in the marketing of products and services; collaborate with the Ministry of Finance in setting taxes and fees for commercial and industrial activities; operate the Federal Consumer Prosecutor's Office ; establish and regulate the databases of industrial and commercial property ; manage the proper use of the Official Mexican Standard and the International System of Units; and in coordination with the Ministry of Welfare , promote economic development based on forms of collective organization in rural or highly marginalized urban communities. 1
