About

The Ministry of Education in Peru was established in 1837.  Education in Peru is under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education, which is the in charge of formulating, implementing and supervising the national educational policy.

The Ministry is one of the largest public institutions in Peru and as the governing body of the Education sector, it serves more than 6 million students under the public education system.  The Ministry oversees more than 44,000 public schools and 17,000 Education programs and collectively, this comprises 85% of the Educational Services offered in Peru.

Its main functions are the formulation of national policies on education, from which it exercises regulatory powers over the system and ensures compliance sector through adequate supervision.

 

Mission

Its mission is to promote the strategic development of the human person through a new educational system in which individual skills are strengthened, through comprehensive training. This training should be based on a culture of values ​​and respect for individual and collective identity.

 

Objectives

The Ministry, through its activities is working towards eradicating illiteracy by ensuring the delivery of quality basic education and implementing universalized education (i.e. initial education from the age of four until the primary and secondary levels).

Only then will it be possible to contribute to improving the quality of life of Peruvians and creating favorable conditions for progress, finding scientific research, technology, culture, physical education and sport as seen in this optical instruments development in the ongoing pursuit of excellence.

This latest effort will equip young people living in rural areas, with sufficient educational media for access to secondary and higher education. The Ministry will deploy adequate technology (satellite distance education) in the service of the poor people in order to raise the level of education in both the public and private schools of Peru, making them comparable with the best schools in Latin America.
