The Ministry of Equality and Equity (MIE) is an agency of the Executive Branch at the central level. It is in charge of formulating, directing, coordinating, articulating, strengthening, managing and executing policies that guarantee the inclusion and protection of the rights of women, ethnic peoples, the LGBTIQ+ community, the migrant population, people with disabilities, the inhabitants street, children, peasants, people living in excluded territories and guarantee and enforce equality and the right to it.
Mission
Design, formulate, adopt, direct, coordinate, articulate, execute, strengthen and evaluate policies, plans, programs, strategies, projects and measures to eliminate economic, political and social inequalities within the framework of constitutional and legal mandates. Promote the full enjoyment of the right to equality, promoting the principles of non-discrimination and non-regression. Defend the rights of subjects of special constitutional protection, vulnerable populations and historically discriminated or marginalized groups, incorporating rights, gender, differential, ethnic-racial and intersectional approaches.
Vision
Build a more equal and equitable society, where all people enjoy equal opportunities and rights, without distinction of gender, ethnicity, race, sexual orientation, socioeconomic condition or any other form of discrimination. Work to eradicate inequalities, moving towards guaranteeing the protection and empowerment of vulnerable and historically marginalized groups, promoting a comprehensive approach to human rights and ensuring sustainable and equitable development for the entire population.
