The Ministry of Finance plays an essential role in determining the fiscal policy of the Palestinian National Authority and supervising its implementation so as to ensure the effective integration of the economic, financial and monetary policies and harmonize its tools to form a system of economic stability and growth that contributes to the achievement of the goals of sustainable development. , Supporting the strength and consolidation of the national economy in the face of the major challenges facing it at the local and external levels. It also works to finance the Palestinian National Authority's budget through local revenues generated from taxes and Manage revenue from external sources of finance and carry out the work and responsibilities entrusted to it through a plan of action in support of the Palestinian Reform and Development Plan, within a transparent approach to sustainable development.
To achieve its objectives, the Ministry of Finance approved five programs in the medium term:

The Ministry's Work
To formulate financial policies that support the achievement of the highest goals of the Palestinian National Authority
- Contribute to the achievement of the strategic objectives of the government outlined in the reform and development plan.
- Studying the financial, monetary and economic conditions, analyzing them and evaluating the tax policies and procedures in coordination with all concerned parties.

Budget preparation, implementation and development of means of preparation
- Preparation of the general budget of the Palestinian National Authority and budgets of institutions, and development of means of preparation.
- Enhancing budget performance, using it as a tool for monitoring and measuring performance, as well as being a tool for planning and distributing financial resources.

Collection and development of revenues from taxes and customs

Collection of property tax on behalf of municipalities and local councils

Manage and increase grants to the Authority

Computerization of tax work
- Consolidate all tax systems and data through a unified PATACS program used by all tax revenue departments, linking tax data and providing integrated information, thereby increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of work and achieving independence from any external programs.
Cash management, account holding and government debt
- Management of cash flows of the Palestinian National Authority.

Public expenditure management
- Oversee the disbursement of capital, operating and developmental capital expenditures.

Government Property Management

Internal audit of ministries and public institutions
