The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Action has the following responsibilities:

• i. Promotion of gender equality and equity in economic, social, political and cultural development;
• ii. Promotion, protection and materialization of children's rights, aiming for their integral development;
• iii. Promotion of social assistance to people and families in situations of poverty and vulnerability, namely women, children, elderly people, people with disabilities and people with chronic and degenerative diseases;
• iv. Promotion and coordination of the action of governmental and non-governmental institutions working in the areas of gender, children and social action.
