Task and Function
Ministry of Health has a duty to assist the President in performing government affairs in the health sector.
In performing its duties, the Ministry of Health Republic of Indonesia has functions in:
- National policy formulation, implementation and technical policy in the field of health
- Conduct of government business in areas of their working unit
- Responsible for asset/property management of the country
- Supervision of the implementation of his duty
- Submission of the evaluation, suggestions and considerations reports in the field of tasks and functions to the President
In its function, the Ministry of Health, Republic of Indonesia has the authority for:
- Determination of national health policy to support macro development
- Establishment of guidelines for determining the minimum standard service that must be implemented by the district /municipality in health sector
- Preparation of a macro national plan in health sector
- Preparation of a macro national plan in health sector
- Guidance and supervision of the implementation of regional autonomy which includes providing guidance, counseling, training, and supervision in health sector
- Setting the implementation of treaties or international agreements which are ratified on behalf of the State in health sector
- Determination of the licensing standards by local government in health sector
- Outbreak and disaster response on a national scale in health sector
- Determination of national policies in health information systems
- Determination of service effort qualification requirements in health sector
- Settlement of disputes between the provinces in health sector
- Setting policy of birth control and maternal, infant, and child mortality
- Setting the public health care security system policy
- Establishment of guidelines for educational standards and utilization of health personnel
- Establishment of guidelines for health care financing
- Establishment of guidelines for screening, development and implementation of health technologies and health research ethics standards
- Setting the nutritional value standard and guidelines for health and nutrition technology certification
- Determination of the accreditation standards of health infrastructure

- Provision of certain essential and very essential medicines for primary health care (national buffer stock)
