About

History
Beginning in the Dutch East Indies until 1942, the Ministry of Home Affairs was called the Departement van Binnenlands Bestuur, whose fields of work included Police, Transmigration and Agrarian Affairs . Furthermore, during the Japanese Occupation Period (1942-1945), the Japanese government department of Van Binnenland Bestuur was changed to Naimubu, whose field of duty included religious, social, health, education, teaching and culture. Naimubu or the Department of Home Affairs based on Jalan Sagara number 7 Jakarta until the Proclamation on August 17, 1945.

On August 19, 1945 Naimubu was divided into:

a. The Ministry of Home Affairs includes religious affairs, which in further development of religious affairs are released from the Ministry of Home Affairs.
b. Ministry of Social Affairs
c. Department of Health.
d. Ministry of Education, teaching and culture.

The Ministry of Home Affairs was formed at the time of the first Presidential Cabinet of the Republic of Indonesia in 1945. The name of the Department was used in connection with the issuance of the First Ministerial Circular on August 26, 1959 No. 1 / MP / RI / 1959.

The Ministry of Home Affairs in the Development Cabinet was formed based on RI Decree No. 183 of 1968.

In 2010, the nomenclature of the Ministry of Home Affairs was changed to the Ministry of Home Affairs in accordance with Minister of Home Affairs Regulation Number 3 of 2010 concerning the Ministry of Internal Affairs Nomenclature

And since its establishment which started from the Presidential Cabinet up to the Mutual Cooperation Cabinet until the Working Cabinet has often changed several ministers holding positions in the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Vision
The formulation of the vision of the Ministry of Home Affairs is aimed at achieving the conditions that will be realized in the future regarding the implementation of duties and functions in the field of domestic governance. The vision of the Ministry of Home Affairs is based on the mandate of the position of the Minister of Home Affairs on its main tasks and functions by taking into account the vision, mission and policy direction of the Government of the Republic of Indonesia for the next five years, as well as objective conditions and dynamics of strategic environment, sustainability of development policies, and demands for change to realize more ideal conditions related to the scope of duties of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Based on these considerations, the Ministry of Internal Affairs's vision has been established, namely: "Ministry of Home Affairs Able to Become a POROS on the Way of Government and Domestic Politics, Improve Public Services, Uphold Democracy and Maintain National Integration"

Some of the keywords contained in the Vision of the Ministry of Home Affairs can be explained as follows:

1. Axis of the Way of Government and Domestic Politics:
Axis or axis or balance point, it can be interpreted that the Ministry of Home Affairs is to position it as the foremost in encouraging the creation of a conducive and stable atmosphere for the course of government and domestic politics through optimal and effective guidance and supervision. This is in accordance with its duties and functions, namely dealing with Government affairs in the field of administering domestic government.

2. Improving Public Services:
The Ministry of Home Affairs is able to encourage the creation of optimal public services in the region through optimal escorting the implementation of various government affairs in the Region in protecting, serving, empowering, and prospering the community, especially in the fulfillment of basic services by the Regional Government.

3. Upholding Democracy:
It can be interpreted that the Ministry of Home Affairs has a strategic role to be in the midst of the community, stakeholders, community organizations, and Government institutions in an effort to uphold democracy and improve the quality of community political participation.

4. Maintaining National Integration:
In line with its duties and functions in fostering and increasing understanding of nationalism, unity and unity, and a sense of love for the country in the midst of diversity, the Ministry of Home Affairs has a strategic role in maintaining the integration of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.

The vision of the Ministry of Home Affairs is a firm commitment, attitude and direction to take a leading role in the realization of national development goals, especially in the aspects of their duties and functions in the field of domestic affairs. To realize this vision, the Ministry of Home Affairs is supported by all work units who must be consistent and full of responsibility to work together to realize the Vision in question.

Mission
In order to realize the formulated vision, the Ministry of Home Affairs's mission is determined, namely:

1. Strengthen the ideology and insight of nationalism by strengthening the practice of Pancasila, the 1945 Constitution, diversity, upholding unity and unity, democratization, and building national character and stability in the country;
2. Realizing the effectiveness of carrying out general government duties through harmonizing central-regional relations, creating peace and public order, and increasing utilization of population administration;
3. Realizing the effectiveness of the implementation of decentralization and regional autonomy through capacity building in carrying out government affairs and supported by accountable and accountable budget and financial management of the people;
4. Encouraging the realization of harmony and justice of development between regions and regions through development from the periphery by strengthening regions and villages and borders;
5. Realizing good, clean and effective governance by supporting competent apparatuses and effective supervision in order to strengthen public services.

The intended Mission Formulation is a further elaboration of the policy directions for the RPJMN for 2015-2019 and legislation, the direction of relevant government policies that need to be carried out and / or acted upon by the Ministry of Home Affairs according to their duties and functions.
