The Ministry of Interior has the following roles and responsibilities:
Lead, coordinate and support sub-national administrations to perform their proper functions in accordance with the Law on Capital, Province, Municipality, District, Khan Administration Law, Commune / Sangkat Administration Law and related legal documents.
Command the National Police Force, the Capital and Provincial Administrative Unity Command, as well as coordinate with other relevant authorities to maintain national security, strengthen public order and ensure social security in the Kingdom of Cambodia.
Command the force in charge of managing the work of identification and nationality
Command to lead the force in charge of managing immigration and refugee work
Direct the relevant units under the Ministry of Interior and the sub-national administration to provide quality, transparent, efficient and timely administrative services to the needs of the people.
Register political parties, associations and non-governmental organizations, as well as monitor the proper implementation of its laws and regulations.
Examine and comment on election procedures and procedures
Inspect, receive and resolve complaints, defamation complaints of citizens related to officials within the Ministry of Interior
Cooperate with relevant ministries and institutions in arranging the location of people's villages according to the geographical characteristics, customs, traditions, culture, religion of the people
Order directing the management of prisons in the Kingdom of Cambodia
Train human resources, including civil administration officials, sub-national administrative staff, national police officers, and prison officials of the Ministry of Interior
Prepare, propose or appoint positions, promotion, transfer, transfer duties, commend, reward, discipline, reduce ranks, remove positions, dismiss from the framework, as well as recruitment of civil administration officers, national police officers and prison officials in accordance with the law. Working in logistics, finance, outreach, education, health, construction and engineering, and managing state property.
Carry out internal audit work on financial management, management of state assets, and management of staff list in all units under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Interior.
Raise principles, measures and implementation of national secret work in accordance with the law
Protect the security of the King to senior national and international leaders and protect national institutions, political goals, diplomacy, economy, culture, trade, tourism, protect important national and international programs and foreigners residing in the Kingdom of Cambodia.
Leading the management of firearms, explosives, ammunition of the National Police Force, public institutions: officials and civilians, fire prevention, firefighting, rescue work, search for missing persons, public order, and road safety, waterways, railways in accordance with legal standards.
Determine measures to lead and manage the work of the border police, contribute to the protection of the territorial integrity, national sovereignty of the Kingdom of Cambodia in accordance with national and international law, and maintain security and order along the border.
Study, research, edit or amend or create laws, regulations, monitor the implementation of laws, regulations and disseminate laws and regulations within the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Interior
Make a report summarizing the work results and further directions on all areas of the Ministry of Interior
Implement other duties and rights assigned by the Royal Government. "
