General attributions of the Ministry of Interior in the field of internal affairs
It establishes, according to the law, measures for the protection of fundamental human rights and freedoms, as well as public and private property.
Organizes and carries out, through specialized structures, according to the competence, activities for preventing and combating terrorism, organized crime, drug trafficking and illicit drug trafficking, human trafficking, illegal migration, cybercrime, as well as other criminal phenomena and antisocial facts.
Organizes, guides and coordinates the activity of protection of persons, goods, objectives and values and organizes the guarding of objectives of special importance given in competence according to the law.
Ensures, according to the competencies, the development of the activity for carrying out the investigations in connection with the commission of some deeds provided by the criminal law.
Organizes the activity of witness protection.
Requests from public authorities, from natural or legal persons information, data and documents necessary in order to fulfill the attributions established by law and within its limits; may reward the natural persons who provide support to the ministry, for the fulfillment of the specific attributions, from the fund distributed with this destination, under the conditions established by order of the minister.
Ensures the observance of the Romanian state border regime.
It constitutes and uses the National Register of Weapons and the Criminal Record.
Establishes and uses the National Aliens Registration System; ensures the observance of the legal regime of foreigners on the Romanian territory.
Ensures the establishment, evidence, selection, storage, preservation and use of documents from the National Archival Fund.
Organizes and executes the medical and psychological insurance of specific missions.
Leads the information and internal protection activity.
Guides and controls the activity of the prefect for the fulfillment of the Government Program.
Ensures, through the subordinated specialized structures, the application of the strategy and the Government Program in the field of management of civil service and civil servants, training and improvement of professional training specialized in the activity of registration of persons, as well as prevention and management of emergencies civil.
It constitutes and uses the National Informatics System for the Registration of Persons.
