The Ministry of Local Administration was established in 1990 under the first ministerial formation of the government under Presidential Decree No. (1) of 1990 on the formation of the government. The administrative units and the General Secretariat of Local Councils for Cooperative Development and the Ministry of Local Government were merged in both countries. Republican Law No. (52) for the year 1991, on the local administration, which specified the functions of the ministry.
