Ministry of Municipality and Environment (Qatar)
The Ministry of Environment is a Qatari environment establishment that serves to protect the environment and develops the natural resources in the state of Qatar. It is administered by an effective management system, and the Ministry strives to improve itself continuously.
The Ministry of Environment aims to be a leading institution in achieving balance between the protection of the environment and its natural resources, and the requirements of development for a better life for present and future generations.
The ministry is responsible for the protection of the environment and endangered wild life and natural habitats, especially the following:
-Devising specific general measures to protect the environment and endangered wild life and natural habitats.
-Designing working plans to execute those measures and supervise the ministries, government apparatuses, agencies, and institutions etc which are involved in these plans and coordinating their work.
-Supervising, following up, and assessing the activities, procedures, and practices regarding the protection of the environment and endangered wild life and natural habitats.
-Preparing draft resolutions, regulations, decisions and systems needed for the protection of the environment and endangered wild life and following them up.
-Building up national environmental databases, and establishing a reference laboratory for the environment.
-Assessing the studies on the protection of the environment planning infrastructural development projects executed by the public or private sector, and providing advice on the effects of these projects on the environment before they are executed.
-Spotting and studying the problems caused by pollution and proposing suitable solutions to them.
-Representing the state in the international and regional organisations, conferences, and meetings concerning the protection of the environment and natural reserves.See more
