Ministry of National Education, Literacy and Promotion of National Languages (Burkina Faso)

History Since its creation, the Ministry has known several names according to the political and stratified options by the leaders of the country. From the Ministry of National Education and Culture from 1957 to 1967, the institution took the name of Ministry of National Education, Youth and Sports from 1967 to 1971. From 1971 to 1976, the department became quite simply the Ministry of National Education. From 1976 to 1982, the initial denomination resurfaced and from 1982, the Ministry took charge of the arts and culture at the same time as national education until 1987. From 1988 the department became that of the basic education and mass literacy. After having been in charge of primary education and that of secondary education at certain times, the ministry has been dealing specifically with basic education and literacy since June 1995, hence its current name. The current Minister of National Education and Literacy is called Stanislas OUARO and was installed on February 05, 2018.
