The Ministry of Planning and Development of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia is the key government agency providing the necessary policy analysis, guidance, and support on economic development, social development, demographic development, spatial development, environmental development, and institutional development. Their principal duty and responsibility are the preparation and coordination of medium and long-term national development plan and conducting periodic evaluations and monitoring of development plans.
The Commission is also responsible for appraising, reviewing, selecting, and prioritizing public development projects to effectively ensure that the overall administration and management of public development projects do accelerate the social and economic development of the country as per the medium and long-term national development goals and targets. Similarly, they carry out the monitoring and evaluation (M&E) of public development projects, and organize best practices observed in development project implementation and ensure experience sharing practices across different sectors.
