The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications shall be placed under the authority of a Minister.
The Minister of Posts and Telecommunications shall be responsible for the development and the implementation of the government’s Posts, Telecommunications and Information and Communication Technologies policy. In this regard, he shall: Study, set up or make it possible to be set up infrastructure and equipment corresponding to the Posts and Telecommunications sectors;
Ensure the development of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs), as well as electronic communications in all their forms, in conjunction with the Administrations concerned;
Ensure the promotion of investments in the sector, in conjunction with the Ministry of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development and the Bodies concerned;
Ensure or make it possible to be carried out the training of the personnel of the sector;
Monitor the activities of mobile or satellite telecommunications companies.
Monitor activities relating to e-commerce and issues of cybersecurity and cybercrime, in conjunction with the Administrations concerned;
Develop, analyse and keep statistics relating to the domain of Posts, Telecommunications and Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs);
Monitor activities of regulatory Bodies operating in his sector of competence;
Liaise with the Government and the Universal Postal Union (UPU), as well as with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), in conjunction with the Ministry of External Relations. He shall ensure the supervisory authority of:
The Telecommunications Regulatory Board (TRB).
The National Agency for Information and Communication Technologies (NAICT);
The Cameroon Postal Services (CAMPOST);
The Cameroon Telecommunications (CAMTEL);
